INFO: This is a pole mounted array located near the north entrance of McMaster Hall.The array consists of 20 polysilicon panels connected in series, capable of generating about 1000W of instantaneous power. The power produced is conditioned and tied to the grid using an inverter. The array tilts on an axis and follows the sun so as to maximize the power produced. This is done by using a thermally activated (solar heating) mechanism that tilts the panel by a process that transfers weight from one side of the panel to the other. This passive tracking feature accounts for flat-top profile of the energy graphs produced on a clear day. The energy graph is updated every 5 minutes (use the refresh button of your browser to see the latest values).
